Talking to your pharmacist

Ask your pharmacist to run your medication list through a drug interactions database. This can help you identify any possible problems with drug interactions. If your pharmacist finds a problems it is important that you check with your doctor before discontinuing a drug you are already taking or not starting a new one that your doctor has prescribed. Sometimes the risks of drug interactions are smaller than the risks you run by not treating your disease or condition.

Your pharmacist can provide easy-to-open containers for your medications if you have trouble with arthritis or another condition. If your eyesight is failing, ask for large print on the labels. If you have difficulty remembering to take your medications, your pharmacist can suggest ways to remind yourself.
